The vast majority of clothing manufacturers have outsourced some of their processing, and sometimes the outsourcing of processing far exceeds the enterprise's own production. Some manufacturers have passed on products with unsatisfactory quality to their customers due to poor management of outsourced processing, which then causes economic losses for the company. This increase of outsourcing processing has meant that companies need to invest more in quality control management.

Establishing Uniform Standards

Factories must set standards for their outsourcing work that are in line with their own quality standards.  Many owners of other factories will want your orders and they will talk themselves up, however this is not always to be trusted as often the big talkers are the ones with the lower quality.

Inspect Outsourcing Factories

It is impeditive that the factories being used for outsourcing are inspected by the main factory before being used. The may reassure about their QC but it is better to be safe and actually visit the factory. When you go to the factory don’t make an appointment, just turn up suddenly. This will give you a more accurate and truthful picture of the operating standards of the factory. Management will not be able to hide any issues such as low number of workers or poor factory management.

Proceed Cautiously

Businesses should be cautious in their dealings with new factories. With new partnerships it is best to start by giving them small orders to test the waters.  Make sure to request a pre-production sample for all orders. If you don’t do this at the beginning of working together, things could get messy very fast.

Quality Control Procedures

Quality control of outgoing stock must be controlled. It is ideal to ask the factories for daily updates and conduct spot checks.  Make sure to follow up from the time they start the order, don’t wait until it is time to ship to check progress.

Progress Checking

The main things to check on during the production process is to whether the production schedule of the outsourced factory can meet the delivery date of the order and whether the products are manufactured correctly according to the order. Unfortunately, it often falls to the merchandiser to go and check the production quality and progress at the factory workshop and to find out if there are any problems before it is too late. The basic requirement of the production process is to enable the company to deliver goods on time and correctly. So often it is needed to visit the production line, check the progress, and check the quality.
